About Dacota

Dacota was sentenced to over 18 years in federal prison for a drug crime when he was 20 years old. This tragic mistake of his was made into one of his greatest blessings. Before prison, he’d never been interested in reading, but with that being the only form of escape left to him he developed a love for fiction. One day it dawned on him that maybe he could write stories too.

He began small, writing short stories that developed into longer works, but he soon realized that he didn’t want to be a short story writer; he wanted to be a novel writer, so he began writing in longer form. While incarcerated, Dacota wrote four novels, a few novellas, and dozens of short stories. Due to good behavior and changes in laws stemming from the First Step Act, Dacota was granted compassionate release, and now he is out of prison and ready to share his stories with whoever will read them.
